Dead Space Fans will be thrilled to hear that a new title is in development for the franchise.

Jeff Grubb, a Venture Beat writer, first reported the rumors. He stated that Electronic Arts would announce the revival of the franchise during its Play Event on July 22. Gematsu and Eurogamer then confirmed the news, while Grubb added his support.

The new Dead Space title would be developed by EA’s Motive Studios. It will feature a complete remake and reboot of the franchise. This is a direct inspiration from Resident Evil 2. EA recently updated Dead Space’s YouTube channel , which had been dormant since almost a decade. With all the rumors floating around, it seems likely that something is in the making. EA Play Live, July 22nd, will hopefully confirm the existence of a new Dead Space.

Dead Space is a survival horror video game that was developed by EA Redwood Shores in 2008. It is published by Electronic Arts on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Microsoft Windows. It was the first entry in the Dead Space Series and was released in North America as well as Europe and Australia.

The video game industry has seen a rise in popularity and success of remakes of classic games. Resident Evil 2, and Final Fantasy 7 remakes show the modern reincarnation decades-old video games. Dead Space appears to be on the same path, with a remake presumably of the original game. This is great news for Dead Space fans and Dead Space’s spiritual successor The Callisto Protocol, but it could be a problem for them.
