Ryan Reynolds is back as our favourite loveable sweary anti-hero, Deadpool. He posted on Instagram, in January, about Deadpool 3 and we’re here to discover all we can about it.

Who’s making it?

After the well-documented deal between Disney and Fox, where many franchises were purchased by Disney and then shelved; Deadpool 3 was looking like a shaky prospect. However, Kevin Feige, the Marvel Studios President, has now confirmed that Marvel Studios are taking on this project and have got some of the best writers on board.

Other characters

With it being made by Marvel studios, there could be a crossover between some heroes. There has been nothing mentioned of this and Feige is keeping pretty tight-lipped on the situation. We don’t even know if previous characters Domino (played by Zazie Beetz) or Cable (played by none other than Thanos himself, Josh Brolin) will return. Rumours abound that Josh Brolin’s Cable will have to kill Josh Brolin’s Thanos which would be pretty cool.

We also await to see if any X-Men or any of the New Mutants appear. Deadpool worked well with them in the X-Men Origins: Wolverine, so we’ll await news on that front.

It should also be noted that if Wolverine made an appearance (Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds back together, yes please!), then it would be the only way that Wolverine could realistically appear in the MCU timeline if other heroes also appear. It’s something that might even blow Dr. Strange’s mind.

Vanessa, Deadpool’s girlfriend, played by Morena Baccarin, is a safe bet due to sneaky post-credit scene in Deadpool 2 where we found out that she was still alive. Hopefully, she’ll get more screen time than in the previous film.

Who else is involved?

Obviously, Ryan Reynolds is involved, it would not be Deadpool without him. Writers have already been found (Bob’s Burgers writers Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin) and are apparently getting down to writing another funny, R-rated feast. There is no director as yet, with David Leitch of Deadpool 1 and 2 not being signed on for this next instalment. We look forward to seeing who will take the reins and try to control the sword-wielding Merc with a Mouth.

When will it be released?

There is no date as yet. Sources saying that filming isn’t even due to begin until 2022 so we’re looking at 2023 at the earliest! In MCU terms, this is a long time. Marvel Studios seem to churn projects out at an alarming rate, but we know that Deadpool 3 will be even better because of the wait.
