Loki has been to many unimaginable places but has yet to visit Springfield. Fans of Loki will be happy to know that he is going to Springfield. It’s part of the new Marvel and Simpsons collaboration.
Next week, Marvel’s anti-hero will join the likes of Homer and Marge in a short called The Good, The Bart and The Loki. In it, Tom Hiddleston’s character is banished from Asgard yet again. As Thor is forced into Springfield, his adopted brother, Bart will need to join him as he travels through an episode the beloved cartoon series.
This is not the first time that a Disney property has crossed-over with The Simpsons. Star Wars Day (May 4th) was the day that George Lucas’ galaxy from far and away joined the animated show for an episode entitled “The Force Awakens From Its Nap.”
For the better part two decades, Disney has been collecting the IP necessary to make these crossovers possible. We’ve seen Star Wars, Marvel Pixar, Disney and National Geographic all rally behind the service to push it into streaming. If the 100 million plus subscribers are any indication, it is working. The Simpsons Loki Episode is a reminder that Disney has more than just a few sci-fi and superhero properties. It owns almost everything.
The Good, The Bart and The Loki will be aired on July 7, Disney+ for those Loki and Simpsons fans.
